Free Transferable Skills Toolkit

Right now, it feels like the only certain thing about America’s job market is its total uncertainty.

Rapid-fire changes out of Washington, D.C. are hitting federal and international development workers and any organization that relies on federal funding hard – really hard. Meanwhile, the job market writ-large is trending toward cautiousness, resulting in decreased hiring, especially for white-collar positions. And, of course, AI and all its possible impacts continue to loom large.

These challenges are real and scary. I see them up close in my own inner circle on a daily basis.

But the challenges don’t have to be paralyzing. There are steps you can take to regain some control and begin carving a path forward. And you don’t have to take them alone.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve gotten many inquiries from those facing or fearing job changes and unsure what to do next. In answer, we’ve created a free Transferrable Skills Toolkit to share with you today. It’s specially crafted to help federal employees, international development professionals, and others affected by recent and projected federal layoffs “civilianize” their skills, experience, and job targets. But it also contains useful tools—AI prompts, skill lists for various industries, job sites offering flexible work options, etc.—for anyone who may be confronting a job transition and wondering, “What now?”

And we have more tools coming your way, too. Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for the release of our revamped Career Kit: Right your Resume for anyone going through a job transition. We're adding a module specifically for federal employees and another on building your LinkedIn profile. We’re excited about this do-it-yourself career and resume building kit! If you sign up for our newsletter below, you’ll be notified when it launches.

And take heart. Whether you chose to work with us in a more hands-on way through any of our career and resume writing packages, or simply take the Transferrable Skills Toolkit and run with it on your own, know the Career Valet team is right there with you, cheering.
